ANCRe (Anchor): a workshop to learn how to love better

Please raise your hand if you have already… Experienced interpersonal conflicts, been taken to task, had to assume the role of a mediator? Please raise your hand if you have already… faced suffering among people close to you? Please raise your hand if you have already… felt like exploding because of what people have been blamed you for? Raise your hand…
if you have ever felt stressed? In other words: raise your hand if you live in contact with other human beings and everything does not go as smoothly as you would like!

It is to equip us and to teach us to really love those around us that the ANCRe training exists (it spells “Anchor” in French and stands for Improving our Relationsal Competence).

From 12th to 17th February in Drulingen the three instructors Rachel Calvert, Joël Rinderknecht and Jonathan Ward guided our reflections and our queries as to how to love one another better.

This was no frontal lecture: the participants had to face up to their fundamental beliefs and assumptions in various areas, nudged into calling themselves in question but also to reflect in pairs, in small groups and of course to put the main points into practice with one another.

The breaks and good food prepared by our team of volunteers (thanks to Claude, Muriel, Antoine, Anne and Sam for giving us their time) enabled the participants to get to know one another and to deepen what they had learned in the workshops.

Day by day the walls of our meeting room became covered with the fruits of our deliberations, things we did not want to forget, things we wanted to keep in mind.

The training session was pedagogically well orchestrated to enable us to derive the maximum benefit from it.

Birgit, one of the participants, gives her impressions

“We had the priviledge of taking a break for two months for rest and further training. The ANCRe workshop took place during this time. We were glad to register because the topic seemed very relevant. The workshop was extremely intensive, practical, concrete and stimulating! I especially appreciated the variety of topics covered, not only the relevant biblical teaching but also discovering and exposing my convictions (basic beliefs). The consequence was that I left with a whole load of things I need to go into more deeply and put into practice. A good challenge and outlook for the rest of the year. A special mention must be made of the kitchen team who really outdid themselves! ”

⇒ In closing

All the participants came to the same conclusion: everyone ought to take part in this training!

If you would like to have the key to listening with love, to help others solve their problems, to deal successfully with confrontational and conflicting situations, to get alongside people who are suffering or deal with your own stress, live in sexual purity and gain breathing space… I have good news for you: the ANCRe training will take place again in 2024 and you can apply to me to be put on the waiting list!
