Mission FPC
If we have 100% Connected in 2020, the risks are too great:
• The team would have had participants from several continents: North America, Africa, Europe. The pandemic did not start everywhere at the same time and we don’t know how it will have developed in different countries by July.
• The scientists are not of the same opinion about the duration and the end of the epidemic. Many of them publicly admit their lack of knowledge.
• We are not sure about the restrictions, the sanitary measures which will be necessary at the end of the crisis and the consequences it will have left in the communities.
• If an infected person were to come to our international gathering in July and contribute to another spread of the pandemic, the impact would be catastrophic on our different Churches, the mission and the reputation of evangelical Christians.
• The target churches are today unable to prepare for the events in July.
Of course, we are sad and disappointed in regard to all the energy already spent on the preparation, and the joy we would have had in transmitting the Good News of Jesus Christ this summer. Especially in a period when the French certainly have more existential and spiritual questions.
Finally, this postponement leaves us a year of reflection and prayer concerning the form to give to this event, in particular due to the transition of its direction from Jeannot Gauggel to Régis Perrin.
