Mission FPC

A time of silence and listening to God

The January missionary meeting took place in Drulingen from January 24 to 26. We were privileged to have Alain Stamp as speaker, a retired FPC missionary who had served the mission for more than forty years.

According to Blaise Pascal: “All the misfortune of men comes from a single thing, which is not knowing how to remain at rest, in a room.” Alain led us in an in-depth reflection on silence and listening to God, both individually and collectively. We experienced the contemplative walk, meditation on the Word of God, Lectio Divina, deep exchanges in groups and very practical exercises.

Silence is a spiritual discipline. Jesus himself showed us the example: “Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up the mountain by Himself to pray. Later that night He was there alone. (1)” In this time of availability and listening, we can contemplate God and make possible His transforming us into His image.

This meeting was an excellent way to start the year 2022: on solid foundations, refocused on the essentials. We were grateful to be able to experience these moments of exchange and prayer for each other, so important for the cohesion and identity of the missionary team.

The next missionary meeting will take place from April 7 to 8, followed by the general assembly of the mission on April 9.
