The meeting began Monday with lunch followed by a walk to get plenty of fresh air in order to get off to a good start. Matthieu Ducrozet guided us through the three days of reflection and learning on the topic of leadership. His approach was based on the biblical theology of leadership. Matthieu has been part of the team of Agapé France since 2002. He worked for 12 years with Sport & Faith France, which he led from 2006 to 2013. He is very enthusiastic about the subject. He holds a master’s degree from Trinity USA in leadership and missiology.
The participants had a number of differing expectations such as biblical foundations of leadership, relevant tools, a fresh vision, the Lord’s guidance as to behavior… They were not disappointed.
Matthieu employed a very interactive method in the workshops, small groups, plenary sessions or when simply being alone with the Lord. For example, one of our tasks was to select from some hundred photos the one which best illustrated authority to us, and then discuss it with the others in a group of four. We became aware that we all have differing backgrounds which color our conception of authority. Each of us had to reflect before God on the way we had led our lives.
Matthieu summarized the authority God confers on human beings in the phrase: “providing a framework favorable to life and development.” This has both physical and spiritual repercussions. If, for example, I come alongside someone who is suffering in their spiritual pilgrimage, I am helping to develop Jesus’ life in them. With this maxim in mind, each of us was able to experience progress in their intellectual and spiritual walk by setting up their own terrarium.
The whole team found this time together fruitful and beneficial. All are looking forward expectantly to the next session with Matthieu which is planned for the team meeting in November. Until then, each person can provide a framework favorable to their life and development.
