A Gutenberg Press Exhibit at the St. John’s Festival

Drulingen was buzzing with excitement on Saturday, June 22nd. Every two years, the Drulingen community association (“Drulingen Animation”) organizes a traditional, medieval St. John’s Festival for the town. Many volunteers come together for the event. It’s a wonderful occasion for FPC to get involved and serve.

One section of the festival is reserved for medieval professions, with a special location given to a replica of the movable type press invented and used by Gutenberg to print the Bible. This replica belongs to the association ExpoBible, who let us borrow it for the festival. It helps to explain Gutenberg’s work distributing the Bible on such a large scale, demonstrating the work of a printer at that time and leaving intrigued passers-by with the first verse of Psalm 23 in different translations.

Meanwhile, in another festival room, an FPC team served dinner to the artists.

After a rainy morning, good weather held out for the rest of the day. We were not lacking in visitors, and the festival was a great success.
