Mission FPC
As with any construction site, it’s best to start out by staking the ground, that is to say, marking points of reference. For that, we have to take the layout plan and follow it. So, we have the plan provided by the Center’s implementation team and try to apply it to the terrain.
Led by Micaël Gelin, the director of the Centre, we start in prayer. Then we take the time to introduce ourselves and express what Christ has placed in our hearts concerning His Church.
We then take out a large sheet of paper to write down everything that makes up the life of our churches: activities, meetings, projects. It’s an impressive list! We recognize that in order to accommodate all of this requires means, ministries, and time.
We believe it is possible to pool together our skills to complete, and in some ways, unite. What a wealth we have! The goal is not to fulfill all these programs but to see how we can best serve God together and be the most efficient and united for the spread of the Good News of Jesus in the lives of our brothers and sisters and among non-believers.
To do this, Micaël reminded us of the need to be renewed in our experience and understanding of the Gospel. This is not a given. The Gospel is essential for a non-believer to go from death to life. It is just as important for a Christian to be renewed and transformed in his or her journey here on earth. Therefore, we must keep the Good News of the death and resurrection of Christ at the center of our churches, ministries, activities, relationships, and our lives!
Following this, Didier presented on the growth curve for churches. We try to situate ourselves: some are expanding, others are stabilizing or even decreasing. The main factor is our focus on the community.
And lastly, we pinpoint what the mission and methodology of our team will be. We also planned to organize a party for the official opening of the Center. The date has been set for February 20th, 2020 in Épinal. An article and photos will follow on the blog!
