Mission FPC

A Conference that Builds Family Spirit

The mission camp stems from the original desire of the founders of FPC. They wanted a time set aside for the missionaries to live, cultivate and develop the family spirit, one of their core values. It is important for the entire missionary team to come together in this way: full-timers, interns, associate missionaries with their families … and from time-to-time retired former missionaries.

Last year, due to sanitary restrictions, the meeting was held in regional centers and for one day only. This year it took place in Drulingen, from Sunday 22 to Friday 27 August. What a joy to be able to meet “for real”!

Mike Evans, accompanied by his wife Sylvia, was the speaker, teaching from Paul’s Epistle to the Philippians. Born in Britain, Mike Evans has spent over 50 years in France. He was director of Operation Mobilization France, then professor at the Biblical Institute of Nogent-sur-Marne, then director of the Biblical Institute of Geneva. Since his retirement in 2009, he has devoted himself to teaching and he chairs the French branch of The Gospel Coalition, Evangile 21.

Paul commends the Philippians for “sharing in the gospel.” He exhorts them to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel and to behave according to the quintessential model of love: Jesus Christ. Paul is not setting the bar too high, because “[he is] convinced that he who began in [them] this good work will continue it to its end, until the day of Jesus Christ [1]. The strength to meet these challenges lies in God. These words resonated in each of us and motivated us for the challenges of the new school year, which are not lacking.

The children also received a special and adapted program mornings and evenings run by Vilodec. For them, the mission camp looks like a vacation camp, sleeping in tents and participating in arts and crafts. For everyone, the afternoons were devoted to relaxation: games, swimming, football… or rest. Evenings for the adults were devoted to sharing information and praying for one another.

The mission camp is essential for developing the family spirit, dear to all FPC collaborators. It promotes team unity, solidarity between us, mutual support. It strengthens our attachment to the Bible, and to its Author. Let Paul give the final ehortation: “And let us all advance together to reach this victory prize, following one path with one passion.” [2] See you in August 2022!
