Mission FPC faces the challenge of the Coronavirus

The whole world, and Europe in particular, are facing the terrible pandemic of the Covid-19 coronavirus. Within a few days, most activities were stopped. FPC is no exception.

In order to comply with the directives given by the authorities, all activities planned at the FPC headquarters in Drulingen are suspended until at least 18th April. This means that the meeting of the women’s team, and the weekend for singles are cancelled. The meeting of the missionary team has been postponed. We are looking into the possibility of holding the FPC general assembly, scheduled for 18th April, via the Internet. All those concerned will be informed as soon as possible. We are continuing to follow the changing situation in order to decide whether or not to proceed with other future meetings.

This public health and economic catastrophe forces us to stop. We are faced with the fact that we are neither all-powerful nor immortal. We cannot control everything. We do not know everything. In his speech, President Macron encouraged the French to return to essential values. It is also an opportunity for us as Christians to reflect on what is most important and what our priorities are.

The book of Proverbs encourages us to seek wisdom from God. “For the LORD gives wisdom…” (2:6). Reading further shows us that putting divine wisdom into practice has an influence on all areas of our life: our way of thinking, of managing money, time, relationships with others, our mental, physical and spiritual health, our actions, our character, our attitude when faced with challenges, with death…

The New Testament teaches us that Jesus Christ is wisdom personified. Take advantage of this time-out to meet with him. Out of love for all the people this earth has carried, carries and will carry, He gave himself to offer us eternal life if we humbly approach him and ask for it. Let’s take this opportunity to tend to our relationship with him. Let’s take this opportunity to pray, for ourselves, for others and especially for those who are vulnerable, for caregivers and nursing staff, for the authorities, for those who are fighting to halt this epidemic…

When our strength falters, our hopes vanish, death threatens… Jesus Christ remains the God of love and grace, to whom we can come at all times by faith.
